Chevening Scholarships

Chevening Scholarships

Chevening is among the most prestigious and competitive UK scholarships available to overseas students.

The next generation of leaders, influencers, and decision-makers has a rare chance to forge a relationship with the UK that will expand throughout their careers in addition to fully financed master's degrees.

What are Chevening Scholarships?

Awarded to those with outstanding academic credentials and proven leadership potential, Chevening Scholarships are funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and partner organizations. The award provides complete financial support for the study of any qualifying master's degree at any UK university together with access to a variety of unique academic, professional, and cultural opportunities.

Through Chevening, almost 50,000 exceptional professionals have had the chance to grow in the UK since the initiative was established in 1983. The UK is continuing to support the development of tomorrow's leaders, as seen by the more than 1,500 scholarships available worldwide for the academic year 2023–24.

How does that work?

Every application is put through a stringent selection procedure. British high commissioners and embassies worldwide then personally choose the most qualified candidates.

Your fully-funded scholarship will cover your living costs, tuition or program fees, and return airfares to the UK. A varied introduction to living in a worldwide role will also be provided by the access you will have to special networking events, workshops, speeches, internships, and volunteer opportunities.

Who is it for?

Chevening Scholars are driven, capable of taking on leadership roles, possess a solid academic foundation, and have a stellar track record of advancing to senior roles in their home countries.

The Chevening Scholarships, which are intended to enhance British public diplomacy abroad, offer the knowledge and experiences needed to succeed at the highest levels and foster future close ties with the UK.

A Chevening Scholarship could be for you if you are a driven future leader seeking for a postgraduate experience that will provide you with the greatest possible preparation for success.

How to apply

Applying for a Chevening Scholarship requires choosing your nation from the dropdown menu at www.chevening.org/apply. Following submission, your application will be evaluated in relation to Chevening's qualifying requirements. Independent reading committees will then evaluate those applications that are judged qualified and compile a longlist of candidates.

Should you make the short list, you will be asked to send references and show up for an interview at the British high commission or embassy in the nation where you applied. A panel of English-speaking interviewers will probe you about your career and personal objectives and how a Chevening Scholarship might support them during these in-person interviews. Additionally considered will be the courses you choose. The panel will next grade your interview using the worldwide Chevening standards.

What is the deadline for applications?

The deadline for applications to the 2024–25 Chevening Scholarships is now November 7, 2023, at 12:00 GMT (midday UK time).

June 2024 will see an announcement of the successful applicants. You will start your UK studies in September or October 2024 if you are one of them.
